The books that mention the various Cunard ships running aground near Southampton don't list generally if it was the river Test or the Solent as the point where they ran aground - but just off of Calshot is a huge area of shallows that occasionally can dry out and that is the area where i believe the ships ran aground as it is in the shipping lanes!

If you can prove whereabouts they did run aground i would be most interested.

Thank you, I was drawn to Bertha Galland by her magazine cover photograph. John F. Barlow (talk) 19:56, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Correction for William C. deMille image

Thanks for the message pointing out the error in the Commons image of deMille. After finding an image and seeing no portrait of George Fitzmaurice in Commons, I uploaded the wrong image from the page of the source document. I have submitted the necessary corrections; it's a good reminder to me of the need to double-check myself prior to uploading. I appreciate your assistance in noting this. Second correction - Here Comes the Bride 1919; photo correction

Thanks once again for the correct identification of the image from film A Romance of Happy Valley (1919), cause for this error was a source document (January 25, 1919 Moving Picture World) had two adjacent images from different films with captions reversed. I enjoyed watching the Happy Valley film to verify this. Not sure how to avoid this type of error for most images from old magazines, prior to uploading I search Google images for matches but often for silent films there are none or few; in this case the incorrect caption resulted in no matches and the resulting error in title in my upload. Thanks once again for your assistance. Deanlaw (talk) 12:51, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Templar Saxe question

You noted that an actor in File:The Teeth of the Tiger (1919) - 8.jpg is misidentified as Templar Saxe and is instead is Charles K. Gerrard. Just to verify this before I make any corrections, as original identification was based on these images of Templar Saxe, although some are from 1925. I would most appreciate your assistance here as images from the book lacked captions and internet search did not provide any assisting stills. Thanks. Deanlaw (talk) 11:59, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

Silent film censorship

Thanks for the comment and kitten, I think the listed deletions give some idea of style of the film, especially for lost films. I was happy to discover, at least in Chicago, a desire in the 1910s to remove racially insensitive material. I also wonder how the audience experienced a western film with a gunfight with all the shooting scenes removed. One magazine noted, after one state cut scenes in a drama film, how viewers must have been confused when a baby suddenly appeared without any explanation! Sortname

Have you considered using template:sortname so that the list of aviators can have their names appear more easily to read, and still be sorted by their family name? I left an example on the talk page. You can see how it is used in a large list at Mayor of Jersey City, New Jersey. RAN (talk) 21:11, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
