If you stick around for a while, these things tend to pile up. The longer I'm here, though, the less I value them, but I remember the thrill of my first few barnstars. I think that awards are crucial for newbies and can be instrumental in retaining editors. I list them here because it proves that if I can get this kind of recognition from my peers, so can anyone. We all like to be appreciated.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings is well on its way to becoming one of Wikipedia's stellar articles. Your determination to make sure that this article clearly explains Maya Angelou's autobiography to the inquiring user is an obvious labor of love and Wikipedia is the richer for it. Thank you.Awadewit (talk) 10:23, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

The Literary Barnstar
For your erstwhile and indefatigable devotion to I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, I award you this Barnstar of Literary Merit. Kudos to you! Scartol • Tok 14:59, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

What a happy sight to see that glimmering star on the Caged Bird article! As Ms. Angelou said: "The work is all there is. And when it's done, then you can laugh, have a pot of beans, stroke some child's head, or skip down the street." I daresay you've earned the right to one or more of these tiny pleasures. Scartol • Tok 14:59, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, I've done two: I've laughed and I've stroked two children's heads. This morning, while I'm at home with the kids because it's Spring Break, I'm making chocolate chip cookies! --Figureskatingfan (talk) 17:00, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

How few Wikipedia readers know of the many (many, many, many) hours of work that goes into a fine article such as this. It is especially meaningful to me today, the day that MLK was murdered.. Thank you Christine! You are truly helping to make the world a better place. Gandydancer (talk) 22:25, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, Gandy, and also to Khazar2 and Gerda above. MLK's murder also has significance for Dr. Angelou; it happened on her birthday and inspired her to write Caged Bird. I'm happy that I was able to honor her in this way. I feel that I must re-create what I wrote on her article's talk page; see [1].

Note: My lack of awards in these later years can be explained in the following ways: (1) I wasn't as active an editor between 2015-2018; (2) more experienced editors don't need them as much; and (3) the thanks feature has taken over much awards-giving in WP.

I truly appreciate your hard work, seven years it had me emotional because of what you have been dedicated and committed to, my wish is that you would keep your word and write a stand-alone article which is well deserving about Maya's I know why the caged bird sings and how Leon Derrick Youngblood SR, and his son , in fact they are the first father and son to go number one on billboard after collaborating on a song with Chris Brown's album Indigo..see Wikipedia under Indigo and song # 18 , since I know everything needs to be sourced...albeit Roccstar who is now one of the biggest music producers in the country and his father put together her incredible poems to music, the fact that people don't know this exists is mindboggling, I waited months to see if you would create the article and add the appropriate information as it is a travesty for this generation to have no clue that her poems have been put to rap and hip hop music, her influence on rap is huge,,, can you please I ask out of pure respect for Maya and her family and fans do the article Andrewigfall (talk) 19:41, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

Congrats, and well done on getting this promoted ahead of the dramatic film's release – and get it locked down. Unfortunately, more views means more vandals. The annual pageview count on this one could be over five million, but I discounted some of the many peaks. BTW, would you like me to check your other contributions, I suspect there are more that qualify for the award. – Reidgreg (talk) 18:52, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

Reidgreg thanks so much! Yah, I suspected that this would happen; something similar happened when Maya Angelou, whose articles I worked on at the time, died. Mr. Rogers' article turned out to be much bigger, though. But yah, go ahead and check. You are so right about the vandalism, but it's been better than I expected; people are being more respectful, which is a nice surprise, I think. ;) Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 20:37, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

If I'm ever in Buffalo, I will eat them, 'cause that's what you gotta do there. Also, thanks for your kind words; kids' TV programming is one of my niches here, especially in my early editing days. I've also worked on Sesame Street articles and The Wiggles. Sorry, I'm not as familiar with Caillou, my kids have never gotten into it.
