WrappedHersheys.com is a personalized candy wrapper company located in Fairfield, Ohio. Founded in 1993, they are a trademark subsidiary of The Hershey Company.[1]

Early Beginnings (1993-2003)

The story of how sales representative Ed Carson originally founded WrappedHersheys.com (then known as Carson Enterprises) was made public in a 1997 article by The New York Times. It stated that Carson had been looking for a way to celebrate his granddaughter’s birth. With the help of a computer, a printer, and his imagination, Carson created a pink wrapper that proclaimed “HERESHEIS” and wrapped it around a Hershey’s chocolate bar. The design attracted the attention of friends, family, and even hospital staff. [1] As a result, Carson took early retirement from Moore Business Forms and began working part-time on his birth announcement wrappers in the basement of his home. After striking a deal with Homestead Inc., the trademark management subsidiary of the Hershey Foods Corporation, for his HERESHEIS, HEREHEIS, and HERETHEYARE announcements, Carson moved his business to a permanent location in Fairfield, a suburb north of Cincinnati. [1]

2003-Present

In a 2003 press release, it was revealed that the 67-year-old Carson had sold Carson Enterprises to interior designer Sharon Frederick and her husband, trial lawyer, Scott Frederick. Following the acquisition, Carson Enterprises was re-branded to Carson Wrapped Hershey's. Along with the name change, product expanded to include birthday, religion, holiday, and special occasion announcements to go along with popular birth, wedding, and business/college announcements. [2]

In 2012, the company was re-branded to the current WrappedHersheys.com.

Acquisition of Watson's Baby Bar

In 2012, Wrapped Hersheys.com acquired Watson’s Baby Bar of Houma, Louisiana, the original publisher (1987) of the HERESHEIS and HEREHEIS wrapper. Said Frederick, CEO and President of WrappedHersheys.com, regarding the acquisition, "We have always regarded Watson's Baby Bar as our main competitor in the personalized candy bar business and this acquisition is a pivotal step in our five year planned growth strategy." [2]

Charitable Work

In a 2004 WCPO-TV story, it was reported that Carson Enterprises had shipped 5,000 customized candy bars with special messages to 80 units of troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Korea for the holidays.[3]

In addition, WrappedHersheys.com has been active in many Cincinnati area charities throughout its existence. Currently, they’re partnered with The Anthony Munoz Foundation, New Life Mission Holiday Project, Paint the Town, and the Character and Courage Foundation. In the past they’ve worked with organizations such as UGIVE.org and The Marvin Lewis Community Fund.[4]
