User:Colonel Marksman/Tech. Page Guidelines

This proposal has become dormant through lack of discussion by the community. It is inactive but retained for historical interest. If you want to revive discussion on this subject, try using the talk page or start a discussion at the village pump.

This proposal was written for the purposes of organizing the Warhammer 40,000 articles in Wikipedia. They are intended to unite differing armies, strategies, and backgrounds between Armies, attempt to help bring each army together for better comparison, and to help share a better organized Wikiproject for those who want more information on the Warhammer 40,000 universe and those unfamiliar with other armies.

The proposal applied to articles that give information about the technology, weapons, vehicles, and equipment for a specific Army or race in Warhammer 40,000.

Suggested Outline

I. Introduction

  • Give brief summary about the Army or race that uses this technology.
  • If available, give details and origins to the technology and how it is come to be in the "present".
  • Warn readers beforehand exactly what this page is and what it is for. These types of pages will probably be helpful to people who are already involved and familiar with Warhammer 40,000.

II. Weapons

A. Ranged Weapons
  • List weapons from most-common type to bigger/more rare type of same-based weapons (e.g. lasgun--laspistol--multi-laster--lascannon).
B. Close Combat Weapons
  • Do not include common weapon types such as "close combat weapon" or "power weapon". Only peculiar weapons (e.g. power fists, las-blasters, banshee mask, etc.)
  • Do not list rules/options for weapons. Note, however, that only officers or high-ranking soldiers or unit types use certain weapons.

III. Vehicles

A. Ground-based vehicles
  • Give a general description of each vehicle.
  • Do not list rules/options for the vehicles (including upgrades).
  • Note if it is a transport, hovers, is fast, and generally how tough it is
  • Also indicate peculiar abilities (flies through space, digs underground, can repair itself, has living bio-parts to it, is possessed, etc.)
B. Navy (Space Vehicles)
  • This is where Epic 40,000 comes into detail for the army. Give the "Space Vehicles" it's own paragraph dedicated to it's Navy impact upon the Warhammer 40,000 galaxy.
  • Include another paragraph in relation to travelling between the stars and the Warp.
  • Briefly list all vehicles in Navy and used in space, including drop-pods and their signficance.

For the Imperium of Mankind

The Imperium have it's own Technology Page. This way, weapons that are used by every army and are common for all Imperial forces will be avoided. Links on any human-based Army for a technology page should revert to the Imerpium's. The following additions apply:

The "Imperium Technology" page will be broken up into:
  • Common Imperium Technology
  • Technology of the Inquisition (flamers will be included into above category, but do not neglect mention)
  • Will include orbital strikes
  • Will include melta weapons in pistol/assault/heavy types
  • Navy section over Inquisitorial use
  • Notable Technology
  • Technology used by spcial characters and have their own special rules.
  • Again, do not list rules for this technology.
