This wiki is part of a class I am taking at Georgetown College, called, "The History and Science Behind the Making of the Atomic Bomb". The class is taught by Dr. Todd Hamilton. [1]

According to, "The Making of the Atomic Bomb", by Richard Rhodes, Ernest Rutherford is credited with discovering the proton.

Our class explored the nuclear bomb design effort known as The Manhattan Project. More can be learned about the Manhattan Project at Manhattan_Project.

The largest nuclear device ever exploded was the Tsar Bomba, or "King of Bombs", detonated by the Soviets in 1961.-

During the making of the atomic bomb, called the Manhattan Project, three major research centers were used, in Washington, New Mexico, and Tennessee. According to a December 6, 2014 CNN article, The national parks system is considering adding these three sites to the national parks system, by making them all three a part of Manhattan Project National Historical Site.
