Trivia is nice, and pop culture references often engage readers. However, these often get out of hand and turn into huge lists of the most random occurrences of whatever topic is under discussion. For that reason, unless it is essential and adds to the informational value of the article, most pop culture references to not fit the encyclopedic nature that wikipedia aspires to.

If your favorite episode of your favorite TV show features your preferred brand of dental floss in the medicine cabinet as the character shuts the door, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF. No one else cares, and it does not add to the wealth of human knowledge gathered on wikipedia.
