History

StudentMarket.com is an e-commerce company based in Boston, Massachusetts. The company also provides a variety of marketing and advertising services.

Originally founded by Oren Milgram in 1995 as Student Market, the company enabled students to buy and sell textbooks with each other through an online exchange.^[1] In 1998 it expanded and became an online retailer of furniture and home decor. On January 21, 1999, the company was featured in the Wall Street Journal. Stories in campus newspapers soon followed and helped spread the idea. In 2008, StudentMarket.com began extending its services to customers in Canada.
