The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish is an American animated television series based on the Nickelodeon animated series The Fairly OddParents (2001–2017) created by Butch Hartman. It is the third series in the franchise, after The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder (2022). The series premiered with a sneak peek on May 17, 2024, with the series officially premiering on May 20, 2024.[1][2] It will also premiere internationally on Netflix.[3]

Premise

Serving as a continuation of the original series, The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish tells the story of Hazel Wells, a 10-year-old girl who has recently moved to the city of Dimmadelphia because of her father's new job. On top of being in an unfamiliar environment, it’s also the first time she’s been without her older brother, Antony, who left to start college, leaving her feeling lonely and unsure of herself. All that changes when their pink-and-green-haired neighbors next door reveal themselves to be no ordinary neighbors, but fairy godparents Cosmo and Wanda, who come out of retirement to become Hazel's fairy godparents.[4][5]

Voice cast

Main

  • Ashleigh Crystal Hairston as Hazel Wells,[4] an adventurous 10-year-old girl with unique interests and an even wilder imagination. Cosmo and Wanda leave retirement to become her fairy godparents to grant her every wish as a result of her brother Antony leaving for college, making her feel lonely.[6]
  • Daran Norris as:
  • Susanne Blakeslee as Wanda,[4] Hazel's fairy godmother and Cosmo's wife.

Recurring

  • Jentel Hawkins as Angela Wells,[7] Hazel's mother.
  • Asante Jones as Marcus Wells,[8] Hazel's father.
  • Iris Menas as Winn,[9] one of Hazel's friends.
  • Merk Nguyen as Jasmine,[9] one of Hazel's friends.
  • Marcus Montgomery as Whispers Fred, a boy at Hazel's school who speaks in a quiet voice and does ASMR videos.
  • Kyle McCarley as Dev Dimmadome,[10] the son of Dale Dimmadome and grandson of legendary business tycoon Doug Dimmadome, who is a frequent antagonist to Hazel.
  • Carlos Alazraqui as Mr. Guzman,[9] Hazel's teacher.
  • Grey DeLisle as:
    • Bev,[9] a girl at Hazel's school who plays soccer and insists on calling it football.
    • Krentz,[11] the principal of Hazel's school.
    • Mrs. Velasquez,[11] one of Hazel's teachers.
  • Eric Bauza[12] as Trev

Guest

  • Bruce Barker as Father Time, the father of time.
  • A.J. Beckles as Antony Wells, Hazel's older brother who left her for college.
  • Cheryl Texiera as Nick of Time, the daughter of time.

In addition, Robbie Daymond[13] and JP Karliak[12] have been cast in undisclosed roles

Production

In June 2023, trademark registrations attached to Paramount Global and Nickelodeon were made.[14]

In July 2023, Norris confirmed that a new Fairly OddParents project was in the works.[15]

The series, which was now titled The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, was officially announced by Nickelodeon on February 23, 2024. 20 episodes were ordered for the first season.[4] The series is produced by FredFilms, Billionfold Inc., and Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, California.[16]

Due to poor critical reaction with seasons 9 and 10 and the live-action reboot, A New Wish did not use the Dimmsdale continuity, and new characters were introduced in a different location called Dimmadelphia.[6] However, the only characters returning are Cosmo, Wanda, and Jorgen Von Strangle.[4][6]

The CG animation was produced by Giant Animation in Dublin.
