Singles

Since we have entries for all singles now, should we add them here? Would it be too much? --Kristbg 14:23, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe we could create a template for just the singles, and put them on the single pages, maybe songs as well, like The Beatles have, but it may be too much to add singles to the regulat template Undertaker2134 06:24, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whelp, nobody seems to be doing this, so I try to. :) Bouncehoper (talk) 11:31, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey - someone added all the singles to the main U2 template, and then put that template into every single article. The U2 template was already too big before, and now it's the size of a small article itself, which is ridiculous. I'd like to revert. What do people think? --Merbabu (talk) 01:24, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

12th album link

I really think that a link to U2's twelfth studio album should be in the template, even though there is no title yet. It is a perfectly legit article full of citations and I don't see any reason why it should not be in the template. A template about U2 deserves to have every article included that is directly related to the band and part of Category:U2, and this should not be an exception. –Dream out loud (talk) 23:19, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sightings of Bono

I've added the article Sightings of Bono to the template; I'm not sure if it's worthy of inclusion or not, but thought I'd be bold and add it in. If anyone feels that it shouldn't be included, feel free to remove it. MelicansMatkin (talk) 02:57, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removing these links

There are too many links in the template that we cannot included a link to every single article that mentions U2, and we must stick to what is notable. I will be removing these three links for the following reasons. Please post here if you disagree, so do not start an edit war.

  • Dave Fanning – Apparently a "friend of U2" but is not associated with the band's personnel (eg: producer, manager, performer) in anyway. U2 has tons of "friends" and to list them all in the template would be unreasonable.
  • The Colm & Jim-Jim Breakfast Show – Nothing more than a morning radio talk show that was the first to air "Get on Your Boots" and maybe a couple other U2 songs. No other relation to the band in anyway.
  • The O2, Dublin and Point Theatre – Two venues in which U2 has played. The O2 featured U2 as the first band ever to "perform a note" inside the venue, and the Point Theatre was a venue where they performed several concerts and recorded one song. The band performed and recorded songs in many venues, so they are not notable enough to the band to be listed here.

Agree. Indeed, I'd go further. The template is over bloated and I suggest that as a minimum the "related articles" section goes. There is nothing notable there, and they can go into categories, which is afterall what categories are for. --Merbabu (talk) 06:50, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fanning is more than a friend as this (which I found in his article) proves. The problem is his article and you shouldn't judge him by it's horrible state. In fact I'd even go so far as to include Niall Stokes whos article is also bad. But Fanning and Stokes got U2 known in Ireland through radio and print in the 70s before anyone else in the WORLD gave a damn. The two venues are/were run by Harry Cosby whose another "friend" of the band from then but maybe not as important. But Fanning and Stokes. Yeah. Typical Americans - cop on! Maybe some irish input on this. After all thats where their from. The rest of the world seriously needs to widen its knowledge on the band and their influences and their rise to fame! But I agree on the Breakfast Show being a bit much. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.40.222.48 (talk) 21:54, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Linear

Should Linear be added to this template under the "Videos and films" section? Or is it not noteworthy enough to warrant a mention? MelicansMatkin (talk) 19:05, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dik Evans

Should be removed from the template. Never made a meaningful contribution to U2 other than dropping out of the band before it became anything. Here's one easy edit. Please weigh in. Thanks. GG The Fly (talk) 15:06, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
