LCS

I think the longest common substring and longest common subsequence problems deserve mention in this template, but where to put them? QVVERTYVS (hm?) 19:38, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

First, thanks for your additions.
Go ahead and put the common subs in the template. I just started copying links from See also sections and sticking them somewhere (such as other). When enough popped out, I'd start a new heading. Some heads are screwy; string metric confuses measure and algorithm. You know more about this stuff than I do. Glrx (talk) 19:50, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Added them to other. I'll see if I can reorganize a bit. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 20:20, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorting

I think sorting is better left out; there's already a sorting algorithm template. Sorting uses a string order, but sorting is usually done on records rather than strings. I didn't just do it because we don't have a topic about ordering strings (lexographic order). There's also that Unicode collation algorithm. (Unicode also has its own template.)
