Scope

As the scope of this template is expanding beyond mere "Recycling" concepts, should the template title be changed to reflect that? Misterx2000 (talk) 08:19, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I wonder if it could be called "Dematerialisation" then recycling would become a subset of that. However, I did not create the template and that might not be acceptable. Also I must confess to having added a number of items that now make the template rather long. Is it possible to design the template so that it will take more than one item on a line when the items are short? Granitethighs (talk) 03:00, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps we can ask the creator of the template. I'm not opposed to "Dematerialisation" or another name. As for the multiple-item per line question, I'm not sure. I think the length is fine, there are many long templates. But if it really gets long, you can do a collapsible one, such as in Politics of England. When I created the template it was to gather the very basic topics together (like reduce/reuse/recycle and the recycling pages for specific products like paper and glass). If anything I think the topic of recycling is pretty intuitive and this template could do with being reduced back down, perhaps someone could consider enhancing the related footer templates such as template:RecyclingByMaterial and template:waste management or create a new footer template around the more conceptual (and probably more academic) recycling terms such as dematerialization? Footer templates (of this click to show style) can be used for high numbers of cross-links to other topics while the side-bar templates tend to be very simple see also lists and this style does look better on the page. —Ashleyvh (talk) 05:27, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the template should only focus on recycling, with a limited number of common materials (products). A separate template for ecological lifestyles/strategies would cover the rest. Widefox (talk) 09:53, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?

Should this template be merged with Template:Waste management? DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 10:02, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Looking more closely at this and two related templates (Template:Recycling by material and Template:Recycling by product), I'd like to propose a merger between this and the latter two, with some cross-links to more general waste topics. Please see the suggested consolidated navigation box at: User:DASonnenfeld/sandbox. Suggestions? Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 10:36, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Done Merged with two other navigation boxes, as referenced above. DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 10:05, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
