Unfocused template

This template covers a really unusual grab-bag of topics. I question the need for any template the scope of which is wide enough to include the Harris water treatment plant, Sick Kids and the Ontario Archives. I suspect that the intent was to capture the public sphere in Toronto, but I don't think it makes the best template scope, especially when one is lumping hard infrastructure in with OCAD. Plus the various entries are fall under the rubric of different organizations and levels of government. There is also major duplication. For example, we already have a template for roads in Toronto, so why do we have a template for infrastructure that also includes roads?

I think we'd be better off giving this template a less schizophrenic scope. My inclination would be education in Toronto, with entries for universities and colleges, libraries, school boards, specialized schools, teaching hospitals, etc.--Skeezix1000 (talk) 21:54, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. To be fair to the editor who created it, I think it was sprung from a much larger even more disjointed template. Let me check out existing templates that already cover similar subjects. Secondarywaltz (talk) 22:16, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I see that from the edit history, although the circumstances are not clear. No doubt it was the first step in cleaning things up, and now we can take the second step. Maybe new templates for education, municipal facilities and transport? --Skeezix1000 (talk) 18:49, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Or maybe no replacement template(s). --Skeezix1000 (talk) 22:36, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Let's remove those covered by other templates, and see what is left. Secondarywaltz (talk) 23:20, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's helpful, although it demonstrates some of the problems we have with other templates (for example, it makes no sense that we have a template for UofT-affiliated hospitals, yet no overall template for hospitals or healthcare in Toronto; and don't get me started on the landmarks template). But those are issues for another time and place. Of what's left here, we could I suppose consider breaking this up into a template for education in Toronto and possibly adding the civic governments buildings to {{Toronto Government}}. Not sure there is a pressing need for either, though. Skeezix1000 (talk) 17:35, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
