Changing backend to use infobox settlement

Now that the TFD has closed, are there any objections to changing the backend? I have created a mock-up version in the sandbox, and here is the result. Any objections or suggestions? Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 16:19, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looks much better, same should be done with the comune template. I think though the guy adding the frazione has been using the standard template anyway. Himalayan 16:29, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Very good! One question... can you center the map? --Francesco Betti Sorbelli (talk) 15:57, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The map centering problem is a problem in {{infobox settlement}}. I will see if it can be fixed upstream. Thanks. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 18:22, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Insert <center> </center> tags before and after {{Location map...}} --Francesco Betti Sorbelli (talk) 18:41, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You were thinking the same thing I was, but I was looking for a CSS solution if it exists. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 18:51, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I gave up and added <center> tags to {{infobox settlement}}. I am still waiting for a CSS solution, but until then this works. 04:21, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Notwithstanding that I have listed the closure at WP:DRV, the new version is much better; and of course benefits our readers, by being laid out like (and stylistically in keeping with) other instances of {{Infobox settlement}}. Please go ahead and implement it. Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 13:43, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed edit

I propose the following edit (which is partly analogous to that made to Template:Infobox Italian comune). This proposed change is contained in this template's sandbox:
1) Creating a new parameter called metropolitan_cityand making it a binary option with province, so that an editor can use one or the other (this is to accommodate the creation of metropolitan cities in 2015).
2) Creating a tracking category called "Category:Pages using Infobox frazione with administrative division issues" that would contain articles that use this infobox with either:

A) No region parameter.
B) No province or metropolitan_city parameter.
C) Both province and metropolitan_city parameters.
D) No comune parameter.

3) Creating distinct preview warnings for each of the four scenarios above.
4) Creating an unknown parameter tracking category and preview warning.
5) Creating an exception to the above tracking category and preview warning for frazioni in the region of Aosta Valley, which contains no provinces or metropolitan cities. When "Aosta" is entered in the region parameter (including when {{RegioneIT|sigla=VAO}} is entered via {{RegioneIT}}), the article will not be placed in the tracking category and the preview warning will not appear if province or metropolitan_city are not used.  Done After notifying the relevant wikiprojects and allowing an adequate amount of time for comments, I have gone forth with the proposal on the live template. Ergo Sum 16:49, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
