More sections?

Running into a problem with this template at SkyScreamer now that Six Flags is installing a 9th model at Six Flags Mexico. Any chance this can get increased past 8? --McDoobAU93 17:54, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@McDoobAU93: added a 9th. Frietjes (talk) 16:06, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Checked the article and the 9th entry appeared as expected. --McDoobAU93 17:01, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Coord hiding bug

In {{Infobox attraction}}, when |coordinates={{coord|28.47655|N|81.47061|W|display=inline,title}} is filled out, and |small=yes then the link and mini-map in the top-right is hidden. Ideally is ,title=yes is present then the expected minimap and coord link in the top-right should always be visible. —Sladen (talk) 19:35, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

hard to fix since it's in a collapsed section, unless there is support for moving it outside of the collapsed section. otherwise it would require some heavy string processing to split the 'inline, title' into two invocations, one with inline and one with title. the other alternative would be to have a more fine-grained specification of coordinates, using say |latd= and |longd= so that this template could generate the coordinates directly. "Replaced by" vs "Replacement"

Any objections to changing the text of the |replacement= field to say "Replacement" on this template, {{Infobox roller coaster}}, and {{Infobox water ride}}? The current wording is awkward for future planned changes, where you really want to say "Will be replaced by" instead of just "Replaced by". Changing it to "Replacement" makes it work equally well for both past and future replacements. --Ahecht (TALK

Ahecht, I support the proposal. --GoneIn60 (talk) 08:51, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request for comment at WikiProject Amusement Parks

A change to the list of available statuses for this infobox is being considered at the following discussion: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Amusement Parks#Status fields in attraction articles. Please add your thoughts and comments there. Thank you. --GoneIn60 (talk) 23:00, 25 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Closing date

At talk:The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror there was a hot discussion, i think about what difference in this parameter it should make if there is some sort of closing ceremony on the day following the last day of operation. While i don't give damn about the template or the ride, Imo it's odd that we have a template that has such a field, and apparently no one who gives a damn about the template seems to have even discussed here what should be done about such a dispute.
--Gee-aRe_bi_Zee_body 09:18 & :30, 31 March 2018 (UTC)

Gee-aRe_bi_Zee_body, I can't imagine there would be that many disputes like that; it's a rare situation. I'd say handle it on a case-by-case basis at each article. Let local consensus decide. If you want multiple articles to treat it the same way, then bring it up in a better forum such as WT:WikiProject Amusement Parks, where you'll get more opinions. This talk page isn't watched by very many editors, so this isn't the best venue. Personally, I would recommend letting the sources decide. If most are reporting the final day of operation as the closure date, then that's what we should report. If they are mostly citing the following day, then go with that. From what I've seen, the final day of operation is more common, but that could vary depending on the type of attraction. --GoneIn60 (talk) 16:36, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How can multiple manufacturers be linked?

The infobox for the article Derren Brown's Ghost Train has three manufacturers (Intamin, Simworx & Severn Lamb). How can they be added to a infobox in such a way that there are separate links for each manufacturer? Ambo100 (talk) 14:44, 25 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ambo100, use |manufacturers= and wikilink them. Frietjes (talk) 14:56, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou Ambo100 (talk) 23:27, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ambo100, Frietjes: Although the |manufacturers= parameter exists, it's not documented and should be. Only the singular |manufacturer= is mentioned. But before we update the documentation, it doesn't appear to be working properly. At the article listed above, only Intamin is being auto-categorized as the manufacturer, while the other two aren't. Ideas/thoughts? --GoneIn60 (talk) 09:01, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I was not aware that it would automatically add categories. Presumably we could add the categories manually until a solution is found? Ambo100 (talk) 13:20, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ambo100, GoneIn60, I would say adding the categories manually is the way to go. especially given the guidance starting in the second paragraph of WP:TEMPLATECAT. Frietjes (talk) 14:12, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Previous names parameter

Infobox roller coaster has a |previousnames= parameter that, when specified, adds its contents to an infobox heading in italics (see Twisted Colossus for an example). I'm proposing that we add a similar parameter for the infobox attraction template. --GoneIn60 (talk) 10:52, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Locations Custom Label

What is everyones thoughts on adding a custom label or two for each location. Sometimes things only apply to one location (such as a manufacturer), or isn't a statistic, and custom_label_1 doesn't always make sense. GeekInParadise (talk) 17:43, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Categories for future years

The following renames were agreed at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2019 May 16:

However, the old categories are populated by Template:Infobox attraction (specifically Template:Infobox attraction/section).

The template code is complex, so please could user:Ahecht or another able editor modify it, e.g. so that status="Under construction" produces the target category name instead of the old category name? – Fayenatic London 14:02, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Fayenatic london: I personally think this is a bad idea, as it would require re-naming the categories and re-categorizing every article. Figuring out when to use future tense would also further complicate the infobox template. If you set the opening date as something like "23 July 2020 (planned)", it should prevent it from detecting the date and automatically categorizing. --Ahecht (TALK

@Ahecht: Fair enough – thanks. I have added some usage notes to the /doc page; please review these and add more if appropriate. – Fayenatic London 17:49, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think I've opined on this talk page that this template needs to have its automated categories removed. Something to add to my to-do list. --Izno (talk) 03:28, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I can understand why, based on the recommendation given at WP:TEMPLATECAT. However, we should not lose sight of the fact that thousands of correct categorizations are in place for hundreds of articles, and simply removing the auto-categorization at this point would be a huge step backward. If there is an option to use a bot that could sweep through each article and copy the categorizations to wikitext, then we should attempt to utilize such an option or explore other alternatives before pulling the trigger. --GoneIn60 (talk) 03:52, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, filling the cats manually prior to removal from the template isn't in question. --Izno (talk) 14:57, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Dual Tracked Water Ride?

Hey, I am writing about the Inbox water ride. The water ride in question, Cheetah Chase at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, has two tracks. There is no dual track feature for this inbox, is that something that we can work around?--Bigtime_Boy (talk) 06:59, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Non-existing categories

Changes to not add non-existing categories are discussed at Template talk:Infobox roller coaster#Automatically-generated categories. PrimeHunter (talk) 01:16, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

image size

The image shouldn't have default pixel size like it's currently (250px). It should be auto-size like in most infobox templates. It leads to low res images looking blurry (see Indiana Jones Adventure). Mika1h (talk) 18:16, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
