Regionality
Shouldn't this either be called "Hotel chains in the US" or cleaned out, to really only list internationally operating hotel chains? Especially most of the chains listet under "Other" are only locally operating companies. For instance (source: Wikipedia ;) so without liability): AmericInn (US only), Drury Inn (US only), Extended StayAmerica (US, CA), InTown Suites (US only), Kimpton Hotels (US only), La Quinta Inn (US, CA, MX)· Loews Hotels (US, CA), Masters Inn (US only), Omni Hotels (US, CA, MX), Red Carpet Inn (US, BS), Red Roof Inn (US only), Scottish Inns (US only), Value Place (US only). Some of them might have their right to appear on that list, but most of them are - internationally spoken - irrelevant. I think the best way would be to change this template to a more worldwide-usable one and building a new US- or North-America-related Template, like that for UK Hotels. This template actually originally was called "Hotel chains in the United States" and someone changed it to "Hotel chains" on the basis that most of these chains are found internationally, then added some chains that are not found in the US at all. Either there should be two separate templates, one for US and one for international, or it should simply revert back to US, with other country-specific templates for other countries that have a lot of chains. I would support the creation of a US-specific template. Care will be needed not to simply include international chains found in a great many countries however, else the articles of those chains will in time end up with large numbers of over-lapping country-specific templates. An alternative approach is to have a US-only/North America only section in this template. That would avoid the problem of duplication.Rangoon11 (talk) 23:20, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
