flag alias-football should be tricolor instead of loacl flag, per other overseas territory. Matthew_hk tc 21:44, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The Football flag should NOT BE the NON-OFFICIAL FLAG, it is either the tricolor, or blank or Regional Logo or Council Logo Matthew_hk tc 10:10, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The official site of Caribbean Cup use tricolor. [1] Matthew_hk tc 10:34, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But the main CONCACAF site uses the local flag. Which is a more reliable or authoritative source—concacaf.com or digicelfootball.com? — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 16:01, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Flag of the Territorial Collectivity of Martinique

Add "collectivity" variant: . Source from Martinique's website.Germenfer (talk) 10:41, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

To editor Germenfer:  done, and thank you very much! P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 15:28, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Local" alias

Requesting to change the "local" alias to File:Flag of the Front National de Libération de la Martinique.svg, as the Snake Flag does not appear to be used locally (as per the Flag of Martinique article). The Snake Flag can be moved to an alternative alias ("snake"). Optionally the flag of the Martinican Independence Movement can be added under an alias ("MIM") as well. Edit request 18 January 2023

Per Flag of Martinique, once the legislature takes the formal step of adoption, newly adopted flag after public vote (Flag of Martinique (2023).svg or New flag of Martinique.svg) should be added under the "local" variant name. Current file under that name (Flag of the Front National de Libération de la Martinique.svg) can be moved to the variant name "nationalist". HapHaxion (talk / contribs) 16:14, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: It appears that this flag has not been officially adopted yet. This edit request should be reactivated after that has happened. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:18, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm reactivating the template. Now File:Flag-of-Martinique.svg has been adopted, which in fact only differs from File:Flag of the Front National de Libération de la Martinique.svg in the shades of the colours.
HapHaxion's request above was that File:Flag-of-Martinique.svg should replace File:Flag of the Front National de Libération de la Martinique.svg as the "local" variant while the latter should be moved under "nationalist". The French tricolour File:Flag of France.svg would then remain the default one.
However, the article Flag of Martinique implies that the new creation is now Martinique's very own proper flag. So maybe set File:Flag-of-Martinique.svg as the default one, move File:Flag of France.svg under "colonial" or something, and still move File:Flag of the Front National de Libération de la Martinique.svg under "nationalist" since "local" wouldn't make sense any more? --Theurgist (talk) 22:23, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The French flag is still used as the national flag, as Martinique is currently a French single territorial collectivity. Flag of the Front National de Libération de la Martinique.svg and Flag-of-Martinique.svg appear to be pretty much identical as no specific color codes for the flag have been specified as of yet. HapHaxion (talk / contribs) 23:18, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
CompletedMartinique Martinique Seems to me the flag on the left (local) is a teeny bit lighter green than the (nationalist) flag on the right. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 17:11, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request: Rename or remove territorial flag 26 February 2023

Description of suggested change: The adoption of the "territorial" flag in the template ( Martinique) was annulled by the local council in 2021 and it is no longer a recognized symbol of the region. According to the decision "this flag and this anthem can no longer be used as emblems by the territorial collectivity of Martinique"[1] I suggest removing it or renaming it to reflect the change.  Not A  Witty Fish 18:36, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

 Completed. Territorial flag removed. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 00:03, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Paine Ellsworth and NotAWittyFish: I unfortunately didn't have time to post a response here as action was taken too quickly, but I would have opposed removing the flag entirely (perhaps just renamed the alias), as it did see use following its adoption in May 2019 by Martinique in the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup. It was not voided for use as a symbol until 15 November 2021. HapHaxion (talk / contribs) 03:37, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
To editors HapHaxion and NotAWittyFish: "I suggest removing it or renaming it to reflect the change." & "(perhaps just renamed the alias)". So we are then open to suggestion as to precisely what name would be appropriate. It's previous alias was "territorial" and was placed first in the "Flag variants" table. What we evidently need is a new, brief alias, as well as where in the table it should be placed, first? second? and so on. Your suggestions would be dearly appreciated, because I myself have little sense of the needs of the people of Martinique. Thank you both for your help in this! The alias has been renamed and flag restored – ( Martinique). P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 06:38, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am fine with keeping the template and renaming it, as @HapHaxion suggested, and I think your label "annulled 2021" is good as well, @Paine Ellsworth. Alternatively a label like "executive council" for the body that selected it or "2019" for the date it was selected would work.  Not A  Witty Fish 13:33, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Most country data templates use years for naming old flag variants, so for consistency and brevity I've changed the label to "2019". S.A. Julio (talk) 03:53, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Flag of Martinique

In 2023, Martinique adopted a new flag featuring the Pan-African colours of red, black, and green.

The template uses the wrong flag instead. Please update this to include the current flag.
