Angut (Persian: انگوت), formerly Tazeh Kand-e Angut (تازه كند انگوت), also Romanized as Tāzeh Kand-e Angūt; also known as Tāzeh Kand,[3] is a city in the Central District of Ungut County, Ardabil province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[4]

At the 2006 census, its population was 1,556 in 364 households, when it was in the former Angut District of Germi County.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 2,544 people in 598 households.[6] The 2016 census showed a population of 2,645 people in 717 households.[2]

In September 2019, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Ungut County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with Angut as its capital and only city.[4]
