This 1965 book made the author famous nationwide. It claimed that the Chevrolet Corvair, an air-cooled rear-engine rear wheel drive car, was totally unsafe, even while parked! This is either an exaggeration, or a lie. Like the VW Beetle, the links on the rear wheels would not prevent a rear wheel from folding inward under extreme conditions. The publicity later caused GM to correct this problem.

I suggest that a pre-requisite to work in this article is to have read the book !! Milton 13:20, 8 Apr 2004 (UTC)

"A 1972 safety commission report conducted" ... from chapter docs is also mostly contained in the criticism chapter. these might be folded into one single place - like a chapter on alternate technical fact collection and insights by third party. --Alexander.stohr (talk) 13:45, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
