Hi, I disagree for the merging. Main difference is that second screens are talking about the usage of a second screen when watching TV, it's a final user conception. Multi-screen does not, for me, correspond to that definition. I'm working in broadcast industry and second screens or connected screens are the dedicated naming with new Business units and Business Models only about that problematic. I too disagree with the merge. Second screen has nothing to do with multi-monitor. Second screen is about having a handhelt tablet touchscreen device such as an iPod in your hand while watching a television show and getting extra information on interactive information/menu about the show on that device. 164.4.17.32 (talk) 18:11, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians, I'm considering adding to this article a section about second screening (a term used to describe television viewers’ use of a Web connected device to access supplementary content while watching a television screen). There are over 21,000 academic articles that mention the concept "second screening", hence I believe it should be adressed in an entry dealing with Second Screen. What do you think? “Second Screen” feels like a worse name than “Dual Screen” or “Dual Screen Device”, which i think would be more of an appropriate name. For example, a dual screen could describe how devices, (such as smartphones in the modern era) can have a “dual screen” system. As it is right now, this article is cringe. It's written in an almost entirely opinionated manner, with definitions and examples that sound like ads and/or are obscure to anyone outside of some small niche fanbases. For more detailed examples on issues I found...

The second paragraph mentions using multiple monitors for a single computer, but doesn't bother to elaborate on it. Are those even the same thing?

The analysis section seems to cherry pick studies that say "second screen good, very profitable", while just not having important info like the target demographics for that kind of thing, how people make it work and if it still works after 2014. Also, I'm not really sure how it would "replace" people meters either, but that could be because I have no idea what a people meter actually is.

The applications is all over the place, and I had to delete a few examples that were just actual ads (and one that was random Donald Trump fangirling for something that doesn't need or use two screens). Among them...

• The second one ("Synchronization of audio-visual content via web advertising") is either poorly worded or in broken English. Are web ads meant to be the means or the ends?

• The fifth one ("Applications that synchronize the content being viewed to the mobile device") seems to be the first one but maybe written differently

• What's a TV discovery application, and does it have anything to do with the programs themselves?

• The eighth one ("Applications that display polling results and audience-triggered animated emoticons (along with the sender's name and location) in real-time on the broadcast instead of the user's second screen") seems to be the first one but maybe written differently

• When it comes to consoles, the Wii U is a good enough example, using the gamepad and 3DS, but do the DS and 3DS themselves count as having second screens (as probably opposed to dual screens)? If they don't, then does the Wii U's gamepad also not count?

Came to this article as one of my first attempts at editing for the sake of the introductory guide when making a new account and this is definitely not an easy starter.

Honestly, it feels like the entire "Analysis" section needs to be thrown out and replaced with something more appropriate like "Adoption" to detail how the method of interaction has been picked up and implemented in mainstream media, if at all.
