Talk:Romanian Tatar language

Existence?

I doubt there is something called "Romanian Tatar". There is Dobrujan Tatar, which is a dialect of Crimean Tatar. Even if there are scholars using this, they may be referring to Dobrujan Tatar. Sounds pretty made up to me. Beshogur (talk) 15:12, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Beshogur! Yes I know, but in sources that I find is written "Romanian Tatar". I speak this language, we call our language "tatarşa" wich means Tatar language and is a variant (or how you called dialect) of the Crimean Tatar language. You can read this sources;[1], [2]. When you have questions you can ask me. Zolgoyo (talk) 15:34, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The language does not exist, and it sure isn't recognised in Romania. This should be redirected to Tatars of Romania or Crimean Tatar language. Super Ψ Dro 06:32, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This article is a recreation of Dobruja dialects of Crimean Tatar [3], which was deleted following an AfD. This is against policy. I've redirected the article and Zolgoyo is warned against the recreation of deleted articles. You are welcome to expand information on the dialect of the Romanian Tatars but it's already been determined it will not have its own page. Super Ψ Dro 06:39, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It would also be good if they cleaned up the links to this article they've added. Super Ψ Dro 06:43, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Super Dromaeosaurus! I will try to find the links and edit them. And it is not separate language, but is a variant of the Crimean Tatar language. There are also sources about this. Our language variant is not supported and is forgotten, the Crimean Tatar language is supported with the Crimean variant. This is actually problem for us, because we speak Kipchak-Nogai and is different from the standard Crimean Tatar spoken in Crimea. We use also a latin alphabet in Romania which has some different letters which Crimean Tatar alphabet in Crimea does not have, there is also the organisation UDTTMR which uses this alphabet. This is also why I try to put our variant to Wikimedia. Zolgoyo (talk) 07:05, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Zolgoyo, it is tiring to see so many users throughout the years trying to game the system thinking they can do whatever they want. This article was deleted following a formal AfD, which is the formal process for deleting articles here in Wikipedia. This was because it was deemed it is not a notable topic. You are welcome to contribute regarding the Tatar dialects in Romania in some other article like Crimean Tatar language or Tatars of Romania. But the "Romanian Tatar language" does not exist. If you recreate this article I will report you to the administrators' noticeboard. Super Ψ Dro 13:38, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So when I understand you right, you mean this article can not be created because it doesn't fit Wikipedia's policy. Maybe we can just create a article about "Tatar language in Romania" (includes Nogai and Crimean Tatar in Romania) and add all informations there? Zolgoyo (talk) 18:09, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure it is even a topic of its own in scientific academia? I would rather expect "Dobrujan Tatar" and not "Romanian Tatar" to be. Political borders hardly ever have an effect on the subdivision and dialects of ethnic groups. There's also Crimean Tatars in Bulgarian Dobruja, aren't there? And I'd imagine them to be the same subgroup as the ones in Romania. But again, that does not mean we should have an article on it. There shouldn't be an article for every dialect of every language. Eventually we would have lots of one-sentence long articles about the several dialects within every village in the world. We need a limit and it is established, as in every other topic beyond dialects, by WP:NOTABILITY. If a topic is covered by a large amount of scientific sources (not blogs or random websites), it is likely notable. Is "Dobruja Tatar" a notable topic? I am not an expert on the topic but there's only 24 Google Scholar results for "Dobruja Tatar" and 12 for "Dobrujan Tatar", which is low. There's not a specific threshold to pass but if you research around you will probably find that many dialect articles we have get many more results. Let's also note that no other Crimean Tatar dialect has an article. It is a language spoken by not a lot of people with not that much research on it. There's not that much information about it that would require the article to be split into several others, at least at first glance for me. I recommend just expanding an existing article. So, in 1956 in Romania is even a alphabet organised by the Romanian Linguistic Academy for the Tatar language in Romania, similar version is also used today. Also in 2010 is the official Tatar language Day in Romania (every 5. May) accepted by the Romanian Parliament. See also the page that I created in rowiki.
