Talk:R. (R. Kelly album)

WP:DIFFPUNCT: R. (R. Kelly album) really not needed to distinguish from R° (Rurutia album) and R (album) currently redirecting to Rated R (Queens of the Stone Age album)? In ictu oculi (talk) 03:06, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

R (album) redirected to dab, R. (album) moved to R (R. Kelly album) / R (R. Kelly album) already redirects. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:30, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have just added archive links to one external link on R (R. Kelly album). Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Requested move 24 May 2021

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: R. (album) and moved per nomination. No consensus regarding R (single album). (closed by non-admin page mover)Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 09:08, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

– per WP:SMALLDETAILS three albums all read "R" distinguished by stylisms that some sources can't pick up. Napster for instance. The Rosé album is only 12 min long with 4 tracks but topped South Korean full album chart. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:06, 24 May 2021 (UTC) Relisting. BD2412 T 03:04, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per nom. The very small difference here is insufficient. --Gonnym (talk) 10:25, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support 1 and 3, oppose 2. Per WP:ALBUMDAB: If two or more albums share their title, but they are not from the same type, simple disambiguation will still be used. Per that same policy, (album) and (single album) are distinct types. In this case, R (single album) is sufficiently disambiguated. 162 etc. (talk) 15:38, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support all. Should a dab page be created? LSGH (talk) (contributions) 01:23, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose the second as proposed. It should be R (Rosé single album) at most per WP:ALBUMDAB. This is the second time just this year alone I see @In ictu oculi: attempting to skip consensus bases upon his own opinion on the topic. By now you should be aware of those consensus and of Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Article titles and capitalisation. The next time you attempt it again I will take it to the admins venue. Tbhotch - I was not aware that you added (single album) as part of ALBUMDAB 11 March 2019 here. How much discussion was there for this change? In ictu oculi (talk) 09:36, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have no objection to R (Rosé single album) in deference to K-Pop and J-Pop editors but the wider editor and more importantly reader community will not know that "single album" is a Japanese/Korean market term for EP. Removing the most identifying feature of the article - the artist name Rosé. Doesn't help. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:22, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I was about to reply here but I noticed this will be a long reply that has nothing to do with the RM. I'll reply in my talk page. (CC) Tbhotch 17:58, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose 3 Given WP:SMALLDIFFS, and the fairly unique punctuation included that clearly distinguishes it. Neutral on the others for the moment.--Yaksar (let's chat) 06:40, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose second move and indifferent about the others - this is a single album, and should be disambiguated as such just as with Square One, M A D E series, and so on. R (Rosé single album) works fine too. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 20:01, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support 1 and 3, Weak Oppose 2, and if 2 is moved anyway, then per comments above move it to R (Rosé single album). Agree that while the terminology is confusing, a "single album" isn't really the same thing, so the current disambiguation is sufficient. 1 & 3, agree with nominator that including the artist aids legibility.
