Talk:Querétaro (city)

External Links

I added some external links which were erased by All-Bran. I think these links further improve the information which is provided by this article. Pablo

Pablo, your links have no direct relation to the article. You are adding external links to a newspaper, touristic sites and a state office on cultural affairs. Please keep in mind that this is an *encyclopedic entry* about the city, not Santiago de Queretaro's web directory or a touristic pamphlet. Please take a look at Wikipedia:Five pillars. Cheers, All-Bran 07:31, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The article about Miami, Florida, does include an external link about a touristic site. Should I remove that link then? New York City's article has links which take you to a photoblog and to a virtual tour. Why do those articles have a right to have such links, but this article doesn't? Thank you for your time. Pablo 07:58, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi Pablo, feel free to remove any external link with no direct relation to the main article, since is hard to track them down in more than a million articles in this encyclopedia. However, please notice the difference between some of those touristic sites. A link to Wikitravel (Wikipedia's sister project) or link to a local touristic bureau is OK. In contrast, some of your external links were pointing to a newspaper and a private touristic website that weren't adding substantial info on the main topic (Santiago de Queretaro). If you do that, someone will jump on and ask "Why Newspaper A but not Newspaper B?", or "Why Website A but not B?" and this entry will end up being a webdirectory in all matters related to Santiago de Querétaro. In any case, if one of those websites is expanding on a topic or a statement made in the article, feel free to include them as references (see Wikipedia:Citing sources, particularly Template:Cite web). Cheers, All-Bran 14:02, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for the tips. By the way, I wasn't refering to Wikitravel guides, but to some external links which were unrelated to any wiki project. Anyway, I'll try to follow the Five pillars and at the same time try to improve the article by maybe starting a wikitravel project about Santiago de Querétaro. Thanks again Pablo 23:24, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

"Second best city"

What do you mean about the second best city? can you use the word 'best' in an article?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.140.160.57 (talk • contribs)

"One of the leading business magazines of the region, América Economía, first included the city in its 'Best Cities to do Business in Latin America.'" It's how the source used the term, as explicated in the article. Someguy1221 04:41, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Local short name

I've added the words "commonly referred to as Querétaro" to the beginning of the article since people don't normally use the Santiago bit.JohnG62 18:38, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WRONG COAT OF ARMS

The Coat of Arms displayed on the page belongs to the State, not to the city or municipality. I am not sure if the city has one, but the municipality's is the same as the State's but without the flags and the National Seal (i.e. the eagle).--189.163.194.209 (talk) 00:13, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2007 rankings does not match with source

In the 2007 rankings, it is considered the second best place in Mexico to do business,[25] after Monterrey and the fifth best in Latin America, ahead of Miami in 6th place.[26]

But if you go to the cited source in footnote #26, Miami was actually placed #1 in the rankings for 2007. And Qeurétaro was placed at #6. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.133.116.20 (talk) 22:37, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi, if you find a reliable source that is updated, please include the updated information in the article. Cheers, ComputerJA (talk) 22:39, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, there. Well, the point of what I am saying above is that what is said in the text does not match with what is said in the referenced source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.97.218.10 (talk) 01:07, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

City and municipality

Santiago de Querétaro is not a municipality, it is just a city, since it is the head of the municipality of Querétaro. All Mexican municipalities and their capitals, they are different administrative divisions. So they should be in different articles. YdelaT (talk) 22:21, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
