Talk:Ojos Así

Translation

Courtesy rtytrewerty accurate enough feel free to fix it, however I think it sufficient; human translations actually make sense as opposed to translators! 65.229.51.247 23:06, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I daniel(daniel625) added the correct title for the song as it was recorded in english, but left the translation as it would have been without the re-recording.

Fair use rationale for Image:Ojosasi.jpg

Image:Ojosasi.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:49, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Natassa Theodoridou

I would like to point out that a Greek artist recently adapted "Ojos Asi".

The song is "Katazeititai" from Natassa Theodoridou (Νατάσα Θεοδωρίδου).

I know not how to edit the article properly and ask that anyone who does, do so if they wouldn't mind.

Thanks!

  • Hi, I'll review this soonish, a couple of initial points below. FunkMonk (talk) 20:54, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Gloria Estefan is WP:duplinked two times.
  •  Donejona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't think the single source used is strong or specific enough to label the song "Arabic pop". It is a Latin pop song with elements of general Arabic music, but that's not exactly the same as being part of that particular genre. I'd suggest looking for better sources for that statement, or state specifically that one writer has called it "Arabic pop".
  • It appears Magiciandude wrote most of this article, have they been contacted about this nomination? FunkMonk (talk) 14:17, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm here, I'm just waiting for the full. review. Erick (talk) 18:01, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I usually start with a little sample of issues to see if nominators are even active. And I only realise now that you and Eric are the same... FunkMonk (talk) 18:12, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'll get to work on this either Sunday or Monday as those are my only days off work. Erick (talk) 14:59, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Shakira should be linked and presented again at first mention outside the intro.
  • Erick has fixed this. – jona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • "producer in the Hispanic market" Link to something. Either just Hispanic or if there is something for the Hispanic market.
  • Erick has fixed this. – jona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Equipment for the recording of Dónde Están los Ladrones? included" Present and link the album. Like "Equipment for the recording of her subsequent album Dónde Están los Ladrones?" or similar
  • Erick has fixed this. – jona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Dónde Están los Ladrones? took nine months to produce" I don't think you need to repeat the entire name of the album when it has just been mentioned in the former sentence, just say "the album".
  • Erick has fixed this. – jona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • "The track is sung half in Spanish, half in Arabic" Half? As far as I recall, there is one verse in Arabic and some backing, so half is a bit much, no?
  • Erick has fixed this. – jona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • "prompted American singer Gloria Estefan, Emilio Estefan's wife" This is the second time she's presented in the same section.
  • Erick has fixed this. – jona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Donejona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • If you want to underline the Arabic angle, it's conspicuous that the section about live performances doesn't mention that she belly dances during the song.
  • I added a sentence about a particular performance to help with that issue. – jona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • No list of musicians for the recording?
  •  Donejona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'd assume Arabic musicians would have been hired for the instrumentation, a process that could be interesting to describe if possible. In the MTV unplugged version, there are at least Arabic musicians and singers.
  • I don't have that CD of hers, but I do have her other CDs with that song on them and pulled names from there. – jona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • It seems like an oversight that an article about her probably only Arabic influenced song doesn't mention it's because she's half Lebanese and how this would have influenced it.
  • I found a source that provides this context. – jona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Was the English version released as a single?
  • It doesn't seem like it was. – jona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Shakira performing the song on The Sun Comes Out World Tour (2010–11)." How do we know it's this song specifically?
  • I looked at the archive version and the article does say she performed the song during a performance of that tour. – jona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm requesting an extra week to work on this. Erick (talk) 01:59, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. FunkMonk (talk) 13:30, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that Erick is busy IRL. If it is okay with the reviewer, I wouldn't mind jumping in to help Erick with this nomination. Best – jona 14:14, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fine with me. FunkMonk (talk) 14:17, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I believe I have fixed the issues that Erick had yet to complete. Let me know if there's anything else that needs to be done. Best – jona 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good, the new source added about Arabic pop is better, but it confirms what I suspected earlier, and that the song can at most be said to have elements of Arabic pop, it is not itself an Arabic pop song. Here's what the source says: "as the song incorporates elements of Arabic pop and also includes Arabic song lyrics". So I think this still needs to be specified with more cautious language. FunkMonk (talk) 17:59, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have reworded the sentence. Best – jona 23:24, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nice, the intro needs a similar adjustment. FunkMonk (talk) 08:22, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
 Donejona 12:53, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Looking good, so I'll promote this now. FunkMonk (talk) 13:26, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your review and allowing me to step in for Erick. Best – jona 16:36, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
