Factual inaccuracies in second last Paragraph in Politics, tone of same Paragraph is not neutral

Paragraph describing events leading up to resignation of Uddhav Thacakaray (paragraph that begins with "Thackeray led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition began to unravel in late June 2022 ...") and forming of new Government in June 2022 is not neutral and seems to be written so as to affirm and legitimise the narrative of Shinde faction. (See https://www.livelaw.in/top-stories/shiv-sena-case-supreme-court-constitution-bench-reserves-judgment-uddhav-thackeray-eknath-shinde-maharashtra-223929 for arguments by Shinde faction in Supreme Court.) This paragraph needs to be edited so the tone is neutral.

Examples -

"Thackeray led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition began to unravel " -

  1. "began to unravel " - tone is not neutral.

"Since the majority of Shivsena legislative party sided with Shinde," -

  1. This statement is really legitimising position of Shinde Group, who have claimed that majority in Maharashtra Legislature allows them to elect new Leader and Whip in Legislature. (https://www.livelaw.in/top-stories/shiv-sena-crisis-principle-of-majority-rule-higher-than-evil-of-defection-eknath-shinde-faction-supreme-court-sc-223799, )
  2. This sentence completely ignores the fact that this particular position is contested by Thackaray Group, and that this is one of the key issues in case in front of Supreme Curt. (https://www.livelaw.in/top-stories/shivsena-eknath-shinde-uddhav-thackeray-kapil-sibal-supreme-court-defections-222154, "Legislative Party Cannot Act Independent Of Political Party: Thackeray Faction To Supreme Court")

"attempts by Thackeray to disqualify the dissenting members using the anti-defection law were unsuccessful." -

  1. The disqualification proceedings against the members of Shinde group are open as of March 19, 2023, so this statement is factually incorrect. The legislators to whom the notice of start of proceedings of disqualification was issued never replied to said notice. ("What is the Speaker to decide? They have not filed a reply till date.")
  2. Shinde faction has repeatedly claimed in case in Supreme Court that they are internal party dissidents, so this statement is affirming that narrative.

This paragraph also completely ignores the role of Governor in formation of new Government, something that Supreme Court made sharp remarks against (https://www.livelaw.in/top-stories/shiv-sena-case-governor-cant-enter-into-an-area-which-precipitates-governments-fall-supreme-court-says-during-hearing-223843).

This matter is currently pending in Supreme Court (including the matter of grant of Shiv Sena name and party Symbol by ECI to Shinde faction), so no inferences can currently be drawn as to which side is legally correct.

This Paragraph should only state facts, and not make any statements that affirm narrative of one group or the other.

Jonathansammy : Following sounds about right -
In late June 2022, Eknath Shinde, a senior Shiv Sena leader, and the majority of MLAs from Shiv Sena joined hands with the BJP. Uddhav Thackeray resigned from the post as chief minister well as a MLC member ahead of no-confidence motion on 29 June 2022. Shinde subsequently formed a new coalition with the BJP, and was sworn in as the Chief Minister on 30 June 2022. BJP leader, Devendra Fadnavis was given the post of Deputy Chief Minister in the new government. Uddhav Thackeray filed a lawsuit in Supreme Court of India claiming that Eknath Shinde and his group's actions meant that they were disqualified under Anti-defection law, with Eknath Shinde claiming that he has not defected, but rather represents the true Shiv Sena party. The case is currently being heard by Supreme Court of India. @Nonentity683: I am OK with the changes you made. obviously, we will have to update the text once the supreme court gives its verdict.Thanks.Jonathansammy (talk) 14:59, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If yes, can they be merged? The topic is beyond my knowledge, so can an expert here do this please. JoeNMLC (talk) 01:22, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

JoeNMLC, Yes, they should be merged.Thanks. Jonathansammy (talk) 16:16, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Jonathansammy - Since I've not done merging, counting on another editor to merge. Not sure which of these two is the "correct" spelling. JoeNMLC (talk) 20:48, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Done. See note. Abecedare (talk) 21:23, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

HDI

Note that the previous figure cited (0.75) is based upon 2017-2018 data from Ashoka University. I replaced it with a 2021 stat from the Global Data Lab, which is newer. Note that there is a significant discrepancy for the two datasets, and they probably use different statistics for the three variables to be calculated. Need to Update Infobox Images of Maharashtra Page

As the current pictures are outdated, there is need a to update Infobox Images of Maharashtra. Sreein Sreedhar (talk) 06:35, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Infoboxes says "Infoboxes may also include an image, a map, or both." The image can be a photomontage (collage). It cannot be a gallery (a gallery is a lot of separate photographs, each with its own caption).-- Toddy1 (talk) 07:23, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sreein Sreedhar (talk) In what way are the pictures outdated? Thanks. Jonathansammy (talk) 16:40, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Images in religion section

Although Hindus are 80% of the state, the images under religion section are mostly of Marathi Hindu shrines except one of a buddhist shrine. There are Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and jews in the state too. This is a page on the state of Maharashtra rather than on Marathi people, and theefore the images should reflect the ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity of the state.Thanks.
