Thanks for the quick turnaround and BIG THANKS for starting the list for what seems like it should have been obvious a long time ago. You would think such a list would exist somewhere -- especially with the Corps but amazingly I couldn't find such a list so thanks big time for undertaking this.Americasroof (talk) 00:20, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification is needed in the introduction section. Most sources list flood pool as a fraction of the total water impoundment which that is reserved for flood control only. Total impoundment capacity being the sum of dead pool[aka inactive capacity] below any and all outlets and used mainly to collect sediment, and live or active capacity(maximum possible fluctuation.) Live capacity is then divided into the flood pool(for buffering unpredictable seasonal weather events) and conservation pool(for buffering normal operational uses like power and irrigation)

flood pool + conservation pool = active/live capacity ;

active pool + inactive/dead pool = absolute capacity ;

Inactive volume is current dead pool water volume only, so original dead pool capacity minus actual sediment accumulation. ;
