I think this article needs some context? Like early on saying when it happened.

My other question is if the author of a book about the war is the same Charles de Varigny that I just published an article on. If so, a link would make sense. But that one died in 1899, was French, and I do not think ever went to Chile. So there might be another, or perhaps his book was translated from French into Spanish later?
