I am looking for any BOOKs about IdiTarod , ALASKA IN THE GOLD RUSH ERA

The "Miners and Merchants Bank of Iditarod," Flat, Alaska (heading on checks) still was in business into the 1950s and a lot of miners in the area (Flat, Ophir and down the Innoko) banked there, including Neil Beaton, John Beaton's son. It was run by one Harry Donnelly, about whom I know nothing. Neil Beaton and Cole McFarland operated a dredge at the foot of Ganes creek, The article doesn't mention it, but the Iditarod flows into the Innoko, which then flows north to meet the Yukon at Holy Cross.

During the halcyon mining days, passengers and freight came as far as Iditarod on riverboats -- usually paddlewheelers -- and then up the Innoko on flatboats drawn by horses along a towpath. I have a multi-page carbon copy of a report from an Alaska Road Commission employee to headquarters that vividly describes the town of Iditarod before the flooding forced the movement of the town permanently to Flat. Prior to the move, I am told, there was a horse-drawn trolley line from Iditarod (and the landing) to Flat.Soini (talk) 19:40, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
