Defunct?

Both companies Host Marriott and HMS Host are well and alive today. Just because the company split into two does not mean that it's former self is defunct. Phearson (talk) 14:45, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Host Marriott ServicesHMSHost — Current company name Shortride (talk) 23:18, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. No evidence that the common name has changed. See official names. Andrewa (talk) 01:44, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support It does not appear that the previous name is common enough to supersede the official name. I've referred to them as HMSHost while doing business with them more often than Host Marriott Services (I'm not a source but do recall calling them Host Marriott a long time ago) and Google News Archive (where sources are) shows thousands of more hits with HMSHost. WP:Official Name is also an essay. It also deals more with people and places for which it is well suited. I would be curious to see if WikiProject Business has a naming convention but did not see one. The rename sounds within reason and would improve navigation for the reader.Cptnono (talk) 03:11, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • See also the official Wikipedia policy on article names. The essay on official names is merely a help in interpreting that policy, to which it of course refers, and it should make this plain and I think it does. Disagree that it is in any way focussed away from business names, although there is no example of a business name given and perhaps there should be. Your personal experience is certainly relevant... but is it the best we can do in terms of the official policy? Andrewa (talk) 04:31, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
      • Gogle News Archive (no standard Google) was the deciding factor for me.Cptnono (talk) 18:17, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
        • That might be a very good argument, could you provide wikilinks to the particular search(es) that decided it for you? Andrewa (talk) 02:02, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Do it yourself. 3,490 v 1,540 along with it being the current name is good enough and you know it.Cptnono (talk) 10:59, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per the corporate web site and the wall of their hiring office at McCarran Airport. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:21, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

HMSHost also operates several Chili's Two in various airpoirts (one being Charlotte Douglas) - can someone find the reference and update the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.104.121.26 (talk) 06:44, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
