Reworking the article

Currently the article is divided into 3 main sections: "Context", the "2012 Geological Survey", and "Recent developments" (by province). This way of dividing up the overview of Canada's geothermal energy resources and industry is clunky and outdated. I strongly believe that reworking/rewriting the article would be immensely beneficial to the clarity and context of the article's subject matter. My recommendations for reworking/rewriting the article are as such:

  1. Subdivide the article by subject (i.e. History, Resources/Reserves, Development, Production, Consumption, Renewability/Sustainability, Environmental effects)
  2. Create a "History" section outlining the history of geothermal energy exploitation in Canada. Perhaps detail why Canada has done little (until recently) to exploit its geothermal resources.
  3. Create a "Resources" section outlining the geothermal resources available in Canada, as well as explaining how these resources can be utilized (i.e. These locales are good for utility-grade electricity generation, and these other locales are good for just domestic heating). This would be a great place to include the 2012 Geological Study, but keep in mind it is not the one any only geothermal resources study that has ever been done in Canada.
  4. Create a "Production" section outlining real-world examples of geothermal exploitation in Canada. Perhaps list some notable geothermal projects.
  5. Create a "Reliability" or "Sustainability" section outlining how reliable and sustainable geothermal power is in Canada.
  6. Create an "Environmental effects/impact" section outlining the effects of geothermal exploitation on the local environment.

Feel free to comment, make your own recommendations, or take the initiative to help rework the article.

@Ponderosapine210: The article should probably have more information about geothermal interest at volcanoes. It already mentions Mount Meager but there are others such as Mount Cayley, Mount Silverthrone, Hoodoo Mountain and Mount Edziza. Volcanoguy 11:07, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
