GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)

  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a. (prose, spelling, and grammar):
    Almost!
    b. (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
    a. (reference section):
    b. (citations to reliable sources):
There is one SELFPUB tweet and the POV video, but they seem acceptable for the claims used.
    c. (OR):
    d. (copyvio and plagiarism):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a. (major aspects):
    b. (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.
    a. (images are tagged and non-free content have non-free use rationales):
Two CC images and the NFUR-bearing logo.
    b. (appropriate use with suitable captions):
    There's even alt text.
  7. Overall:
    Pass/fail:
Not much to do. Fresh eyes could find more things to do. 7-day hold. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 03:30, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Copy changes

  • The train departs making small right turn Missing an "a"
  • nearby steel roller coaster, Vortex no need for this comma. Because there's no article, you can't remove the appositive and have a flowing sentence.

Spot checks

  • 2: NYT: Mentions Top Gun and The Addams Family. (NYT ref #1 mentions Star Trek)
  • 9: Press Democrat: 100-foot lift hill, "impending military confrontation", aircraft carrier theming of the queue
  • 11: POV video, which is kind of like citing the roller coaster, but fine.
  • 23: Some of the injuries from the 2015 incident
  • 24: Temporary closure of the ride after the incident

No issues in the sources checked.

Thank you again for the review @Sammi Brie:! I have fixed the above. Let me know if there is anything else on the horizon. Apologies for the delay. :) Adog (TalkCont) 13:01, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Improved to Good Article status by Adog (talk). Nominated by Onegreatjoke (talk) at 15:05, 29 March 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Flight Deck (California's Great America); consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.[reply]

  • All components check out: interesting and accurate hook, inline citation in article, recent GA promotion, length is plenty sufficient, no copyright readily evident concerns (not that I can use Earwig today, anyway). It's a grim way to celebrate a GA promotion, but all the same: nice job to both improver and nominator. ~ Pbritti (talk) 18:46, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
