Talk:Emperor Jimmu

Why "Jimmu" and not "Jinmu"?

Jimmu is indeed the unmodified Hepburn romanization of 神武. However, unmodified Hepburn started falling out of favor decades ago and is now virtually obsolete. The modified Hepburn romanization, Jinmu, would bring the spelling in line with what would be used in any scholarly publication today. Using "Jimmu" instead of "Jinmu" reeks of amateurism. It's almost as embarrassing as using "Hindoo" instead of "Hindu." 2603:7081:6E40:5700:E810:E488:FFF4:DA2C (talk) 21:19, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
