Talk:Ditmar Award results

"Ditmar Award" and "Ditmar Award results" pages

I don't believe the two pages should be "merged", but do believe the two pages need a complete re-format. The Ditmar Award page is fine as far as it goes, so long as the only recent winners shown are the MOST recent. All the other winners should be on another page(s).

The Ditmar Award Results page should contain all awards and shortlists but it's really becoming too long. The first year listed is 1969, so we now have thirty years of awards. With later years now listing 13 awards the whole thing is becoming unwieldy. Maybe a split of this page into decades might be an idea. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 05:35, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My inclination would be to look for changes to the categories. The 1989 awards were the last with an "International" category. The 2001 awards were the first with an award for Best New Talent. So, we could start with 1969-1989, 1990-2000, and 2001 onward. The latest results could be left on the "Ditmar Award results" page, until it becomes time to split it again. --Thomas Bull (talk) 21:52, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
An alternative would be to split the results by category, bearing in mind that some categories can or could be merged. A split could use the potential merged categories (e.g., "Short Fiction") rather than the component categories (e.g., "Novella or Novelette"). --Thomas Bull (talk) 20:34, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Order of entries

Maybe we should reverse the order of entries - start with 2009 and then work backwards to 1969! 203.56.94.11 (talk) 01:01, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That would be a start but it still leaves us with a very long page. --Perry Middlemiss (talk) 03:37, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"William Atheling Jr. Award" page

A page for the "William Atheling Jr. Award" exists. Should it be replaced by a redirect to the "Ditmar Award" page? Should the part attempting to list history of the award be replaced by reference to this page? Should the results for that Award be moved to that page? --Thomas Bull (talk) 22:24, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling

Witch King

The novel by Russell Blackford that was nominated in 1984 for both Best Australian Long Science Fiction or Fantasy and Best International Fiction was The Tempting of the Witch King rather than The Tempting of the Witchking. --Thomas Bull (talk) 01:49, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

specfic

In "Australian Specfic in focus", "specfic" is not a typo for "specific". It's short for "speculative fiction". --Thomas Bull (talk) 01:33, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rhizome

Cathy Cupitt had a fanzine named The Rhizome Factor (with an I rather than a Y). --Thomas Bull (talk) 10:50, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nabakov

The short story by Paul Collins in Australian Short Stories 63 is "The Nabakov Affair". --Thomas Bull (talk) 10:50, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Mangazine

In "JAMWAF Mangazine", "Mangazine" is not a typo for "Magazine". JAMWAF stands for "Japanese Anime Mangazine for West Australian Fans". --Thomas Bull (talk) 07:41, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ERNI

In "James Morrow and the ERNI", "ERNI" is an acronym for "extensively recomplicated nasty irony". (To confirm this, see "James Morrow and the ERNI: A reply to Scott Campbell and John Clute" by Bruce Gillespie in his Scratch Pad 6 (https://efanzines.com/SFC/ScratchPad/scrat006.pdf)). --Thomas Bull (talk) 10:38, 13 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

BAM

The Courier-Mail newspaper has or had a section or supplement called "BAM", short for "Books, Arts, Music". --Thomas Bull (talk) 10:19, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikilinking the books

In case anyone is watching, is there any specific reason why the books that have wikipages aren't wikilinked? It seems to me like they should be, but wondering if there was some rationale that I'm not seeing. Qwyrxian (talk) 06:32, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The results of the Ditmar Awards seem too lengthy to include with an analysis of the Awards themselves. I think separate articles would be more appropriate.--Alarchdu 15:36, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
