For completeness, it might be handy to put here:

• References to the actual standards defining 'Broadcast Safe' in various regions.
• Timings of the composite video signal (sync pulse lengths, front porch etc). There's a diagram here which quotes an ancient Usenet post as a source; perhaps someone can look up the actual standards.
• Acceptable tolerances on frame rate, etc.
• Information about SECAM, for completeness.

• SECAM is a color encoding system, usually used on the same video systems as PAL, neither one truly needs reference, PAL is due to its status as a misnomer for the entire system. --tonsofpcs _(Talk) 14:37, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the suggestions IanHarvey, I was hoping to reply with some region specific info., way I see it, apart from the US, Europe and possibly Japan and Australia, I don't think any other regions have standards bodies to define broadcast criteria. —IncidentFlux _{[ TalkBack | Contributions ]} 21:47, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
