In the Naan article its shows a picture Afghans making that bread. Then we have this specific article on Afghan bread. Either need to make these more distinct or merge them. MarsRover 05:42, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is appropriate to have a seperate article for Afghan bread. Afghan bread is very distinct from what is traditionally referred to as "naan" in India and the West, even though the word "naan," which simply means "bread," is used by Afghans in describing it. The picture of the Afghan nan is incorrect. That is a picture of lavash (which is eaten in ALL Middle Eastern countries). Afghan nan is much thicker. Lavash is very thin. That is an incorrect title.72.196.229.15 22:51, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The piture doesn't really belong in the article. It could be moved to ALL Middle Eastern breads, because Afghan nan is different. Does anyone have a real picture of Afghan nan?

Agreed- the picture is not Afghan bread, it is lavash bread (or looks like lavash bread), which is Armenian and popular in Armenia and Iran, but not widely used in Afghanistan. --Khalil78 (talk) 21:26, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the reference to Afghanistani bread being "Arabian" bread; feel free to return it with a citation, but honestly, who considers it Arabian bread? It's made by non-Arab people far from the Arabian peninsula. Also, to clarify for the above poster: Afghanistan is not considered part of the Middle East. I will be changing the name of this article to Afghan bread as per the July 2007 consensus. Furthermore, a google search of "afghanistani bread" -wikipedia retrieves 5 hits, while a google search of "afghan bread" -wikipedia retrieves 986 hits. Our source verifying the claim that this is the national bread of Afghanistan comes from the official site of Mansfield, Connecticut?? That's a rather dubious reference. I suggest a better citation be found or RealAfghan112's edit be used. Kingturtle (talk) 04:46, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
