Talk:Affranchi

Etymology

Is it related to "French" or to franc ("free")? "Frenchified" or "freed"? Now I think that France and franc are related through the Franks. --Error 02:14, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Needs facts

Basic facts would be useful: number and % of whites, free people of color, and slaves on Saint-Domingue, Guadeloupe and Martinique at the end of the 18th century, when the Haitian Revolution began. Also, if this article is to be only about Saint-Domingue/Haiti, that needs to be defined. If not, there needs to be content added about the societies of the other French Caribbean colonies. What was the same and different?Parkwells (talk) 14:37, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reassessing the article

Greetings. I thought this article does not meet the "start" requirements yet. So, I reassessed it as a "stub," but only within the Caribbean Wikiproject. Some of the steps we should take to move it up are to divide it in sections, write a short, but helpful introduction, add it to other wiki articles, wikify it and start adding relevant scholarly sources and credible external links. I also entered it in the Haiti Wikiproject because that is where it fits more appropriately. I have my doubts about belonging to the France project, but I leave that to others to debate. If you think differently about my assessment, please, let me know. I am more than happy to consider other positions.
