Other organizations section is irrelevant

I am proposing that we remove the "Other organizations section" as it is irrelevant to this article. This article talks about the different Administrative divisions of the Philippine government, not the organization of the Church, or any other organization for that matter. Your definition of a Province as being Rural is ridiculous.

"All but one region is divided into provinces. Metro Manila (the National Capital Region), due to its urban environment, is not divided into provinces, but instead is divided directly into cities and municipalities."

Just because Metro Manila is an urban metropolis does not mean it can't be divided into provinces. That narrow regionalistic bigoted definition has to go. Why British Columbia and Ontario are provinces of Canada but not entirely rural. Same with the Province of Barcelona. Rewrite and rationalize Administrative divisions of the Philippines and Local government in the Philippines

I think that having two articles is confusing. More confusing, there is no article entitels "Local Government Unit" a very popular term in the Philippines with a specific definition and history that needs to be discussed distinctly and clearly.

Therefore I propose that [{Local government in the Philippines]] become Local Government Unit and talk just about LGUs in the most general terms leaving more detailed discussion to the articles on the individual units (e.g. municipalities, component cities, etc.

Further I propose that Administrative divisions of the Philippines would become a comprehensive list of all government administrative divisions below the national level, including elected LGUs as well as Regions and Autonomous Regions, and anything else like the MMDA. Administrative divisions of the Philippines would be in essence a wordy disambiguation page, mostly focusing on describing each and contrasting each with the others, with a "main article" link.

We need an article or articles for people to go to learn about how governance in the Philippines works. I don't think that these article repeat each other and that neither effectively describes to those completely ignorant of the Philippines what the various government levels are, which are elected and which are appointed, how they work together, what are some of the major pieces of legislation, what are the major areas of conflict. With a bit of work, a bit of tweaking, and with especially a clear idea of the purpose of each article I think that we can have two effective articles that will reduce ignorance in the world. I dunno what was my stand on the ARMM and LGUs but it seems that ARMM isn't an LGU, but it's within the local government sphere. The divisions mentioned in the Local Government Code are the LGUs (provinces, cities, municipalities and barangays). This article is currently formatted the way you wanted it to be: this meant to be an overview of not only local government but other administrative divisions. Aside from legislative districts and judicial regions there are plenty more not listed here like the school boards and things such as engineering districts. And informal definitions like gated communities, puroks, sitios, neighborhoods, local administrative districts, zones, etc.
There could be an article about LGUs but any mention of the ARMM (or its successor) should be minimal at best. –HTD 14:36, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
