Talk:2023 Beninese parliamentary election

Many changes

I haven't seen the news in non french speaking sources, but there's many changes scheduled :

  • The number of seats is now 109
  • In each of the 24 constituencies, a seat is now reserved for a female candidate on the lists
  • The mandate has changed from four to five years, but the assembly elected in 2023 will have a three years one, so as to coincide all election
  • Next parliamentary election will thus be in January 2026, earlier by two years
  • Next municipal election will also be held in January 2026, postponed by one year
  • Next presidential election are still scheduled for April 2026, so it won't be a fully combined election.
  • Parliamentaries now have a three mandates restriction, including the three years one, but older ones don't count

2023 Beninese parliamentary election → Beninese 2023 parliamentary election – I believe that the title "Beninese 2023 parliamentary election" is a more grammatically correct title. StereotypicaI American (talk) 15:58, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose per just about every other election article title. -- AxG /   17:15, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose for same reason as AxG. Additionally, per WP:NCDATES and WP:NCE, the "when", "where", "what" format is acceptable in that order and is the most widely used. HapHaxion (talk / contribs) 17:39, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose; Year, followed by date, is the generally accepted format. BigCheese76 (talk) 18:22, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per WP:NCELECT, the naming convention for election articles. Number 57 19:35, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per everyone above. Election articles should be formatted as "[year] [country] [election type] election" (common types of elections include "federal", "gubernatorial", "legislative", "parliamentary" and "presidential", as well as in some cases "by-election"). For example, the article 2022 Australian federal election is correct, but titles such as Australian federal election, 2022 or Australian 2022 federal election are not correct (the former is a redirect to the correct title, however). • Oppose per criteria regarding article title consistency. Clyde H. Mapping (talk) 04:46, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
