The statement that elections will take place on Oct. 1 is supported by a citation - http://www.mherrera.org/elections.htm, but this assertion is contradicted by the fact that I can find no mention of an election date having been set in the archives on the Trinidad Guardian (and this fact has been supported in personal communications with people living in TT. While an article could be written on the subject of the forthcoming election, the only piece of information in this article is untrue. I've reverted it for the simple fact that we tend to have articles for upcoming elections regularily, and my stated intent was to create articles for all upcoming elections in 2007. Is that okay with you? —Nightstallion (?) 20:03, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not if it's factually inaccurate, which it still is. Parliament dissolves on October 17, if it isn't dissolved sooner. Once Parliament dissolves elections have to be called in a certain window of time after that, something like 2-3 months. I am opposed to having an article which is factually inaccurate. Ok, the constitution says 3 months:

69. (1) A general election of members of the House of Representatives shall be held at such time within three months after every dissolution of Parliament as the President, acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister, shall appoint.[1]

so that means elections are due by January 17, 2008. I'd still prefer a redirect until there is an article with some content. Guettarda 21:56, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Of course it's "likely" (highly likely), but trying to predict the future isn't encylopaedic ("Wikipedia is not a crystal ball"). While a nuanced discussion would be appropriate (based on historic precedent and the "conventional wisdom" that no one would call an election between Christmas and Carnival) just saying it's "likely", based on a Bajan newspaper editorial, really doesn't strike me as good encyclopaedia content. Mh. Would you be happier to have it at Next Trinidad and Tobago general election? That's what we do with other election articles with no specific date (Next United Kingdom general election). No, I don't think there's anything wrong with the title, because that's the most common name for it. But it's different for people to say it will take place in 2007 and for the article to say so. Guettarda 14:45, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe , keeping the names of the candidates is important

The figures for Couva North and Couva South are the same for two candidates one of them must be wrong. Anyone know where correct figures can be found? Intelligent Mr Toad (talk) 07:18, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
