Talk:1920 Madras Presidency Legislative Council election

strength?

Both these links put the strength of the council at 132? [1][2]. 98 elected members is consistent in all sources. no of nominations is different.--Sodabottle (talk) 05:39, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

hmm. that sucks. I have another reference which puts the strength at 130. I used the one which said 127. since it is well organised in a table form, i thought Saroja put some effort into making sure what she wrote. ---CarTick 05:46, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think i have found the reason. [3]. Act specified 98 elected and 29 nominated members. Plus the members of the Executive council which varied. So we get different numbers ranging from 130 to 134. --Sodabottle (talk) 06:01, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
which page number..---CarTick 06:03, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
186. full text of the act is given with electorate descriptions--Sodabottle (talk) 06:16, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
that explains. may be we should only write about the elected members in the infobox and so on. ---CarTick 06:24, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
wow. that is a good quick work. nominated for DYK. ---CarTick 06:45, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

caste breakdown

Eugene Irschick book says, 65 non-Brahman Hindus, 22 Brahmans, 5 Muslims, 14 Indian Christians and 5 outcastes (official appointees). --CarTick 17:55, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

differs in indian christians and mohammadans, no europeans. saroja is bound to be more accurate as it tallies with the total.--Sodabottle (talk) 02:39, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
probably right with the numbers. But she is so much anti-Justice party and glorifies Rajaji in her book. opposite of Rajaram I guess. Indian writers. --CarTick 04:10, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
:-).. thankfully we got both of them to strike a balance--Sodabottle (talk) 07:28, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
