Rafael Mikhailovich Minasbekyan, born on 2 February 1968, is a producer, screenwriter, and executive manager of organizations. He currently serves as the CEO of GK GPM KIT (Gazprom Media Group. Film. Internet. Television), which is a subsidiary of "Gazprom Media", the largest media holding in Russia and Eastern Europe.[1]

Biography

Rafael Minasbekyan was born on 2 February 1968 in Yerevan. He is married and has two children, a son, and a daughter. In 1984, he graduated from Kamo High School No. 76. Later, in 1992, he completed his studies at Yerevan State Medical Institute (YerMI), specializing in general medicine.[2]

He continued his education and in 1995, he successfully completed his medical residency in Psychotherapy. In 2006, he graduated from the Moscow Academy of Labor Market and Information Technology (MARTIT), specializing in "Management of organizations and anti-crisis management".[3]

Subsequently, he pursued his graduate studies and obtained a PhD in Economics in 2006 for his dissertation on "Development of intellectual capital of an enterprise using information technology to create high-tech products".

In 1990, Rafael Minasbekyan, along with a group of friends, formed a KVN team called "ErMI". He served as the captain of the team, which won the championship of the KVN Major League in 1992 and 1994. He also captained the "CIS United" team in 1995 and was one of the captains of the "World United" KVN teams.[4]

In 1991, Rafael Minasbekyan began his career as a producer, screenwriter, and director on television. From 1993 to 1994, he was a Managing Partner and Member of the Executive Board of the Cultural Commercial Company "Sharm" in Yerevan. From 1994 to 1997, he served as the Managing Partner and President of the production studio Amber in Moscow. And from 1997 to 2002, he held the position of Managing Partner and President of the "Gorod" TV project studio in Moscow.

Since September 2015, Rafael Minasbekyan has been serving as the CEO of GK GPM KIT.[5]

Rafael Minasbekyan is a prolific author, producer, and screenplay writer, having contributed to the creation of over 300 feature films, documentaries, animated films, marketing programs, musical albums, top-rated series, and TV shows. His extensive body of work spans across various genres and mediums.[6]

  • 2018 – APKIT award for "Badaber Fortress" film created for the First TV Channel, "Best TV Film in 2018" category[10]
  • 2019 – APKIT award "Best feature film" for the "Text”
  • APKIT award for the "Battalion" series created for NTV, for the "Best TV film of 2019"[11]
  • 2019 – Golden Eagle prize "Best film 2019" for the film "Text"[12]
  • Finisterra Arrábida international film festival award in the category Best Advertising Movies ("Best advertising film") for GPM KIT GROUP promo video. The author and producer of the film – Rafael Minasbekyan[13]
  • Award of the international animation festival DRAWTASTIC (USA) in the category "Best advertising". The Grand Prix of the festival – "Golden Pencil Award" – was given to the animated screensaver of the "KIT Studio". The video was directed by an Oscar–winning animator Alexander Petrov, and the author of the idea and producer – Rafael Minasbekyan.[14]
