Golmakan (Persian: گلمكان, also Romanized as Golmakān and Gulmakān)[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Golmakan District of Golbahar County, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran.[4]

At the 2006 census, its population was 6,413 in 1,620 households, when it was a village in, and the capital of, Golmakan Rural District[5] of the former Golbahar District of Chenaran County).[6] The following census in 2011 counted 9,534 people in 3,063 households, by which time the village had been elevated to the status of a city.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 8,373 people in 2,861 households.[2]

In August 2019, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Golbahar County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with the city of Golbahar as its capital.[4]
