Summary

Description
English: Wooden Alley in Chicago. On the NRHP since May 22, 2002. Alley at 1535 N between N. Astor and N. State Streets. Alley is in front of the brick wall at the left, and behind the main building shown, which is a garage or outbuilding of a very famous building just to the right of this picture. The famous building is the Archbishop of Chicago's Residence on North Ave., where Pope JP II stayed while in Chicago. That building is also a character (or at least location) in Frank Norris's book "The Pit" Why the Alley is an NRHP? Apparently because it had a wooden block pavement, which seems to have been removed!
