Deutsch: Die Universitätskirche bzw. neue Jesuitenkirche am Dr.-Ignaz-Seipel-Platz neben der alten Universität im 1. Wiener Gemeindebezirk Innere Stadt. Die Kirche wurde an der Stelle einer Kapelle um 1625 errichtet und erhielt ihre heutige Gestalt Anfang des 18. Jahrhunderts, indem unter anderem die Türme errichtete und neu fassadiert wurde. Nach der Aufhebung des Jesuitenordens 1773 ging die Kirche in den Besitz des Staates über. Nach der Wiederzulassung (1814) sind seit 1856 wieder Jesuiten in der Kirche tätig. |
