Afrikaans: Oorhandiging: Hierdie R4 stormgeweer is die eerste militêre geweer wat in Suid-Afrika ontwerp en gebou is. Generaal Magnus Malan het dit aan sy edele P.W. Botha geskenk wat dit weer in November 1979 aan die museum geskenk het. Die R4 sluit kenmerke in soos 'n opvoubare kolf, integrale tweevoet, draadtang en nagvisier.
English: Presentation: This R4 assault rifle is the first military rifle to be designed and built in South Africa. General Magnus Malan presented it to the honorable P.W. Botha who in turn presented it to the museum in November 1979. The R4 incorporates features such as a folding butt, integral bipod, wire cutter and night sight.
Description: South African-manufactured rifle at the National Museum of Military History, Johannesburg, 2014. There are 4 primary points and 15 detail points (19 total). The subject is an early model 5.56mm R-4, a licensed copy of the Galil developed by Armscor of South Africa.
