English: Vauxhall Bridge Road (A202) at A3212. This is where 2 busy roads meet -- the A3212 Grosvenor Road / Millbank, and the A202 Vauxhall Bridge / Vauxhall Bridge Road. We are looking up Vauxhall Bridge Road towards Victoria. These lights stay red for quite a while, as each of the 4 busy roads gets its own turn on green. This made the location a popular one for "squeegee gangs" who would wash your windscreen for a fee while you were stopped. The fee was not normally negotiated in advance, the work was often unsolicited, and the job was normally rushed -- an arrangement which had some potential for conflict! |
