Summary
DescriptionThe former Melrose Railway Station - geograph.org.uk - 255709.jpg
English: The former Melrose Railway Station Melrose Railway Station was constructed in 1847-9 as part of the Waverley route from Edinburgh to Carlisle. The line was closed in 1969 and the main building presenting a Jacobean facade to the town centre was converted in 1986 into a restaurant and offices. The station canopy on the up, or north, side of the former line has survived, but the buildings and signal box that stood on the down, or south, side of the line were demolished to make way for the A6091 Melrose bypass road.
