Changes in areas and names:
1 April 1967: Lurgan rural district mostly becomes Craigavon urban district under Craigavon Development Commission
1972–3: entire county–borough–district system replaced with 26 unitary districts.
Changes in council structure:
2 June 1967: urban and rural district councils abolished in County Fermanagh, leaving Fermanagh County Council as a unitary authority.
2 April 1969: Londonderry Corporation and Londonderry Rural District Council were abolished, and Londonderry county borough and Londonderry rural district were placed under Londonderry Development Commission
