LS400 Français : Commercialisée en 1989 après 6 ans de développement, la LS 400 est le premier modèle Lexus. Elle est connue comme Toyota Celsior dans son pays natal.
Longue de 5 m, elle est propulsée par un V8 de 245 ch délivrant 350 Nm de couple, ce qui n’est pas de trop pour mouvoir les 1 750 kg de l’ensemble. Elle se démarque d’emblée par son confort assuré par une suspension pneumatique au filtrage convaincant, un remarquable silence de fonctionnement et sa finition tout aussi rigoureuse. Ce qui lui permit de s’imposer en un temps record malgré une ligne passe-partout, surtout outre-Atlantique, sur un segment très difficile où l’image de marque est primordiale, et de rebattre les cartes face à une concurrence établie de longue date, Mercedes en tête... |
