Summary

Description
English: NASA wrote the following caption for this image: Shows colorful layered sediments inside a crater northwest of Hellas. This target was suggested by a member of the public.

Retired schoolteacher Jim Secosky has a very cool hobby. He spends his time scouring context images from the Context Camera on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter to find interesting targets to image at high resolution. So far he has input over 14,000 targets into our public image suggestion tool HiWish, of which 5,417 targets have been acquired by images. Many of them are as interesting and beautiful as this example.

If this sounds like fun to you, a good place to start is the free JMARS program from Arizona State University. Come explore Mars with us!
