Summary
DescriptionLavochkin La-7 27 white (9705727302).jpg
English: This is a very significant aeroplane. It is the genuine '27 white' flown by Soviet ace Ivan Kozhedub.
Many warbirds and museum aircraft are painted in this scheme, but this is the actual original.
Kozhedub is regarded as the best Soviet ace of WW2, having a natural gift for deflection shooting.
In 330 combat missions he took part in 120 engagements and scored 62 victories including an Me-262!
While the aircraft is original, the debate continues about the colour scheme. It has certainly worn this scheme since first seen at Monino in the early 1970's.
The aircraft is now on display in the new hangar near the museum entrance, which houses many of the museums WW2 types.
